Recertification Requirements

Upkeep of the M&AMI designation is required.  Every M&AMI must complete the recertification requirements by the following third anniversary of the award and each three years thereafter.

To recertify as an M&AMI, the following requirements must be met:

  • Maintain an active membership in the M&A Source
  • Pay an annual maintenance fee
  • Attend at least one M&A Source conference
  • Complete 44 credit hours of education, association activities, or completed business transactions:
    • 24 of these credit hours must be garnered through educational experiences, such as M&A Source courses, Coles College of Business Certified M&A Professional Program, attendance at an additional conference, outside education courses, or teaching or speaking at a conference.
    • The remaining credits can be achieved through additional education, participating in a committee or board of the M&A Source, or submitting a completed business transaction where the M&AMI was the primary intermediary.

A one-year extension may be requested if these requirements will not be met. Failure to complete these requirements in the recertification period will result in the revocation of the M&AMI designation.  It is possible to reinstate the designation after it has been lost.
